He was a son of John Hadden (born ~1595, London, Middlesex, died 16 Oct 1671 in England) and Jane Nichols, daughter of Robert Nichols who married 16 Feb 1622, in Whitechapel, London, England.
John Haden/Hadden Sr. of Yunghers (Yonkers) Plantation is mentioned as early as Feb 1668, when he witnessed a deed for Elias Doughty[1]
7 Jun 1668: Date of a deed received by John Hadden for purchase of three parcels, 320 acres in total, lying directly north of Van der Donck's planting-field and extending across from the Albany post road to the road to Mile Square. the Van Cortland estate now includes the whole of it. For 200 acres Hadden gave a horse and for the remainder £5.[2]
Dec 1668: Hadden bought 24 acres adjoining his "house in the old field" from William Betts, a son-in-law of Elisa Doughty.
Mr Hadden was a carpenter by trade. He settled in the Yonkers with his sons-in-law, George Clevenger and William Smith, and in 1672 he was made overseer of the village of Fordham. His sons-in-laws dying a few years later, Mr Hadden sold out and returned to Westchester, where he and his descendants were respected citizens.[3]
He married Elizabeth Smith. The couple had the following children:
