Anne was born about 1647, the daughter of George Hadley (Grocer, of Southgate, Middlesex) and Anne Harrison. She married (first) Walter Pheasant of Upwood, Huntingdonshire[1] and (second) on 2 November 1672 Arthur Herbert.[2] She died sometime before 1 Aug 1716, when Arthur Herbert married (second) Anne Armine.
Two sources (Arthur Collins,A supplement to the Four Volumes of the Peerage of England and Powys-land Club The Montgomeryshire Collections) state that when Anne married Arthur Herbert in 1672 she was nearly 70 years old, although no primary sources have been found to substantiate this. That would have placed her birth date around 1602. However, British History Online (in a description of the owners of Upwood in Huntingdonshire) says that when Anne married (first) in 1665 to Walter Pheasant, both Anne and Walter were underage. At that time parental permission was required for anyone under 21 to wed. There is a record of Walter's baptism at St Martin's in London on 9 August 1646 (which does make him under 21 in 1665) so this report seems more credible. A search continues for the actual record of Anne's birth, although it is assumed to be around 1647.
