Biography
Sophia Hair [sic] was born in 1840 at Barton upon Humber, Lincolnshire, the daughter of John Hare/Hair/Ayre and Hannah Jackson. [1]
In the 1841 census Sophia Ayre [sic] was living with her parents at Winship's Brickyard, Barton upon Humber. She was aged 1 year. [2]
In 1851 the family was still at the same address. Sophia Hair [sic] was then aged 11 years. [3]
Sophia Hare died in 1856 aged 16 years. [4]
She was buried at St. Peter's Church, Barton on Humber. The inscription on her headstone read - "In Memory of SOPHIA, Daughter of JOHN & HANNAH HARE, who died October 30th 1856, Aged 16 Years. Look to Jesus friends and we shall meet again. [5]
Photograph of gravestone taken in 2021 is missing the final words [probably now buried beneath the ground].
