Alice (Halkyard) Bottomley was born in Lancashire, England.

Alice was born in Denton, Lancashire, England, in 1859.^[1] Her birth was registered in the second quarter in Ashton under Lyne. She was the daughter of Charles Halkyard and Sarah Mills. She was enumerated in the 1871, ^[2] 1881, ^[3] and 1891 census ^[4] residing with her family in Denton, then Haughton, Lancashire. (Both in the Registration District of Ashton under Lyne). In 1891, she stated she was thirty one, single, and a "Hat Trimmer".

Alice married Samuel Bottomley in 1900.^[5] The marriage was registered in the first quarter in Ashton under Lyne. Alice was enumerated in the 1901 census ^[6] residing in the household of mother Sarah Halkyard with sister Rachel. Husband Samuel not at residence. She lists her age as forty one, and occupation as "Felt Hat Trimmer".

No definitive record for Alice found post 1901.
