Biography

Sarah Hall was born in 1854 in West Bromwich, Staffordshire, England to Robert Hall and Elizabeth.

Sarah Hall, daughter of Robert, a smith, & Elizabeth, residing at Brook St, was christened on 9 Jul 1854 at Christ Church in West Bromwich.[1][2]

In 1861 Sarah Hall (age 6, Scholar) lived at 23 Bratt Street in West Bromwich with her father Robert (36, Blacksmith), mother Elizabeth (30), and brother Thomas J[I] (8, Scholar).[3][4]

Sarah Hall (age 19, Spinster, residing at West Bromwich, daughter of Robert Hall, Blacksmith) and Humphrey Broadstock (age 20, Bachelor, Mill Man, residing at West Bromwich, son of William Broadstock, Blacksmith) were married on 23 Dec 1872 at Holy Trinity in West Bromwich - the witnesses were William Broadstock & Eleanor Barker.[5][6] The marriage was registered in West Bromwich in the last quarter of the year.[7]

Sarah and Humphrey had eleven children:

In 1881 Sarah Broadstock (age 28) lived at Bromford Lane in West Bromwich with her husband Humphrey (29, Bundler Iron Works) and four children: Sarah (7, Scholar), William (5, Scholar), Isaac H (3), and Jemima (0).[8]

In 1891 Sarah Broadstock (age 38) lived at Longfield Street in Aspull, Lancashire with her husband Humpery (38, Labourer) and seven children: Sarah (17), William (15, Collier), Jemima (10), Prudence (8), Elizabeth (5), Humprey (3), and Susannah (0).[9]

In 1901 Sarah Broadstock (age 47) lived at Leeds Street in Aspull with her husband Humphrey (49, Bundler Ironworks) and three children: Humphrey (14), Sushannah (10), and George (8), as well as three boarders: George Allan (51, Puddler Ironworker), Edward Williams (28, Puddler Ironworker), and Phillip Callaghan (42, Packer Ironworker).[10]

Sarah's husband passed away in 1903.

Sarah Broadstock married George Hindley in 1904. The marriage was regsitered in Bolton, Lancashire in the first quarter of the year.[11]

Sarah's husband passed away in 1909.

Sarah Hindley (age 49, Widow, residing at 27 Leeds Street in Aspull, daughter of Robert Hall, deceased, Labourer) and Enoch Olarenshaw (age 44, Bachelor, Collier, residing at 35 Liverpool St in Aspull, son of William Olarenshaw, deceased, Labourer) were married on 30 Oct 1909 at St David's in Haigh, Lancashire - the witnesses were Joseph Olarenshaw & Jemma Showell.[12] The marriage was registered in Wigan, Lancashire in the last quarter of the year.[13]

In 1911 Sarah Ollerenshaw (age 50) lived in Wigan All Saints, Lancashire with her husband Enoch (46, Coal Miner Hewer), son George Broadstock (17, Coal Miner Trammer Below Ground), and brother-in-law Joseph Ollerenshaw (48, Coal Miner Hewer).[14]

Sarah Olarenshaw passed away in 1932, aged 77 years. Her death was registered in Wigan in the second quarter of the year.[15]
