In 1922 Wilfrid's poem 'A Loiner's Day' was published in issue 6 of Yorkshire Poetry published by Swan Press Leeds
Wilfrid married Winifred Kirkwood at the Registry Office in Islington on 2 August 1923,[9] their marriage was registered in the Jul-Aug-Sep quarter of 1923 in the Islington district.[10]
They married again in St Peter's Church, Bramley, Leeds on 17 April 1924,[11]possibly because a registry office marriage was not considered a 'real' marriage by some of their family or the school at which he now taught, this marriage was registered in the Apr-May-Jun quarter of 1924 in the Bramley district.[12]
In the 1939 register Wilfred (age 50), School Master, was recorded as married at 5 Armley Grange Drive, Leeds, Leeds C.B., Yorkshire (West Riding), England.[1]

Wilfred, Chairman of the Yorkshire Dialect Society, was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy by the University of Leeds on 18 December 1946[13]
Wilfrid's death was registered in the Jan-Feb-Mar quarter of 1975 in the Leeds district.[14] Wilfrid died on 9 March 1975 residing at 279A Otley Road, Leeds and his estate passed probate on 9 May 1975 in Leeds.[15]
