Marriage

TWIGDEN—HALLS.—On the 31st October, at the residence of G. Merchant, Esq., Mannanarie Head Station, by special licence, by the Rev. S. J. Nicholls, Skeffington Thomas, only son of the late George Twigden, to Emily Elizabeth, eldest daughter of Mr. Henry Halls, Romford, Essex, England. [1]

TWIGDEN.— On the 28th March, at her late residence, Stockport, Emily Elizabeth, relict of Thomas Twigden, aged 74 years. [2]

Obituary

MRS. E. E. TWIGDEN - Mrs. Emily Elizabeth Twigden, an old resident, of Stockport, died on March 28. She was born in Essex, England, on December 29, 1885, and came to South Australia at the age of 18 years. She married Mr. Thomas Twigden at Mananarie, South Australia, on October 31, 1877. Mr. Twigden farmed at Mannanarie, Walloway, and later at Tarcowie. They overcame many hardships of the pioneer days. In 1913 Mr. and Mrs. Twigden retired from active life on the farm, leaving the property in the hands of their sons. They went to Stockport to live. Mr. Twigden died in 1923. There were eleven children of the union, six sons and five daughters. Private Thomas Twigden paid the supreme sacrifice in the late war. The surviving children are Messrs. George and John Twigden (Stockport), Percy, Albert, and William Twigden (Tarcowie), Mesdames W. Jeffs (Tarcowie), W. Keding (Hornsdale), E. Edward, and Miss Nance Twigden (Stockport). There are 28 grandchildren. [4]
