Biography

This profile is part of the Edisto Island, South Carolina One Place Study.

Martha was born in 1725. She is the daughter of Paul Hamilton and Martha Bower. She married Rev. John McLeod,[1]but apparently predeceased him since she is not mentioned in his Will made in 1768. In his Will, John McLeod mentions children Norman, Martha, Christian, Dorcas, and Anne McLeod.[2]

Slaves

Her father's estate passed probate on 16 November 1739 in Charleston, South Carolina, and gave her 2 slaves.[3]
