Alfred Hanson was born in 1856 in Bishopwearmouth, Durham, England to William Hanson and Catherine Pearson. At the age of three he arrived in New Zealand on the Joseph Fletcher with his mother and 5 siblings.

Alfred married Elizabeth Nazer in 1882 in New Zealand.^[1]

Buried in Purewa Cemetery Auckland New Zealand.^[2] Age at death 93 years.
