He grew up in the Eva area of Morgan County. He was married March 13, 1912 to Virginia (Jenny) Snow Suit in Morgan County Alabama. She was born January 20, 1893 during a snow storm. That was the reason for the middle name of Snow. She was teased about being a snow suit and had to repeat the reason for the name many times. Jenny was the daughter of Dr. William Ransom and Mary Melvinia Bell Suit. She grew up on top of Whilhite Mountain. They lived in several houses before the settled in the log cabin that her grandfather had built in the New Hope community. They built a new house in the juncture of two roads where they raised their large family on a farm on top of Wilhite mountain in Morgan County. Life revolved around work, church and play. Most social life revolved around the church where they went in their wagon loaded with children each week. The big table where they ate always had plenty of food that they grew. As the oldest grandchild, I loved to go there because there was always someone to play with. Everyone came there for Sunday dinners, and holidays. It was a big group with lots of children running around. Grandma always decorated her house with big red bells for Christmas, and there were the special dishes that we didn't see any other time of the year. Will and Jenny had the following chilren, all born in Morgan County, Alabama. 1. Virgie Lucille Grant, born March 2, 1913. She married Clifton Drinkard June 19, 1938. They had one child, Marzee Linda Drinkard, born March 22, 1942, died 23 February 1947. 2. Eskel Grant, born October 28, 1914, died May 4, 1977. He married Irene Young February 13, 1938. They had one son, Bobby Grant, born and died November 25, 1938. 3. Evert Sam Grant, born March 30, 1916, died April 7, 1962. He married September 4, 1943 to Irene Fortenberry. They had five chidren, Joann, Gerlad, Linda, Donnie and Ricky. 4. Tressie Jane Grant, born April 18, 1918. She married Joel Murph Caver on October 30, 1935. Their children were (1) Hellen Murph Caver, born July 19, 1936, married William Howard Gibson. (2) Nina Faye Caver, born January 6, 1938, died September 20, 1975. (3) John Ray Caver, born october 10, 1943. married Judy Stover. (4) Joe Elmus Caver, born March 31, 1945. married Doris Powell. 5. Willie lorene Grant, born November 27, 1920, died February 13, 1980. She married Leon Lott. They had one child, Edith Lott who married Thad Posey. 6. Enos Elmo Grant, born November 28, 1922, died December 6, 1973. 7. Melton Grant, born December 23, 1924, married (1) Inez Riddle, (2) Audie Smith. 8. Mildred Grant, born January 14, 1927, died April 16, 1992. She married Johnny Harden. 9. Vernon Grant, born February 8, 1929. He married (1) Dorothy Brown. They had 2 children, Michael and Sharon. (2) Barbara ousley. 10. John William Grant (J.W.), born February 12, 1931. He married Betty Story. They had 1. Teresa Grant, married Dennis Jordan. 2. Margaret, married (1)Mike Gray, (2) Allen Miller and 3. Michael Grant. 11. Ruby Jean Grant, born November 20, 1933.
