Will Hardison was born in 1877 in Georgia, United States.
In September 1918, he registered for the WWI draft in Fort Gaines, Clay County, Georgia. He described himself as black male of medium height and medium build with black hair and eyes. He was a farmer working J.E. Shaw. His nearest relative was Valley Hardison of Fort Gaines, GA.[1]
In the 1920 Census, he lived with his wife and daughter in Dupont, Florida. He was a farmer in a truck farm. A truck farm is a small commercial farm that grows vegetables or fruits for sale directly to consumers at local markets or roadside stands. The name “truck” comes from the old English word “truckle,” meaning “wheel” or “roller,” which was used to describe wheeled carts used to transport produce to market.
Will died on 11 Jul 1922 in Bunnell, Flagler, Florida, United States, aged 44. His burial location is not known.
His death certificate lists Fort Valley, PA (or GA) as his birthplace. On the 1920 census, it lists Florida.
His daughter Dorothy Mae (Hardison) Pollin listed her parents as Will Hardison and Minnie B Nealey.[2]
