Biography

Baptised 2 February 1873 at Christ Church, Southwark, London. In 1881 was listed as an inmate at the Central London District School in Hanwell, an institution that supported students under the Poor Laws. The 1911 census recorded that three of her children had died. In 1920 she was widowed and living at 316 Ladbroke Road in Kensington, along with children George, Percy, Rosella, and Percy. In 1936 she was at the same address along with her daughter Rosella and son Robert. Rosella was not there in 1937, and by 1939 Rosa Ann and Robert had moved to 412 Portobello Road in Kensington.

Research Notes

As explained in Rosa Ann's mother's profile, Rosa Ann and her siblings at times used the last name Jones as it is believed their father and mother did not marry. However, the name Hardisty was used for Rosa Ann's baptismal and marriage records.
