Biography
Delia was baptised on 26 January 1817 and gives her date of birth as 19 December 1816. Her parents were George Hardman, crofter, and Esther
Her second marriage in St Mary's Church, Prestwich on 19 September 1853, gives Delia's father's name as George Hardman. She married James Clough.
The 1861 Census shows James age 40, coachman (domestic servant), Delia age 40 (she was actually 44), and Emma, 8, living at 2 Cheadle Heath, Heath Bank. It says James was born in Sandbach, Cheshire, Delia in Prestwich and Emma in Manchester.
The 1881 Census shows Delia age 64, office cleaner, widow at 94 Douglas Green, Pendleton, Salford and her brother Oliver Hardman, labourer, living with her.
She died in 1886 at the age of 69.[1] and was buried on 27 January 1886 age 69, by Rev I H Kidson, Curate in St Marynthe Virgin Churchyard, Prestwich[2]. Her address was Pendleton. Probate was granted on 13 Sep 1886[3] to Oliver Hardman (labourer) of 22 Garden Walk, Hyde Road, Manchester, Delia's brother. Delia Clough nee Hardman died at Douglas Green, Charlestown, Pendleton, Lancashire and she left £40.
