Biography
Sallie was Cherokee.
Sarah/Sallie Harlan was born about 1790 in the Cherokee Nation, the daughter of Ka-ti and her white husband, Ellis Harlan. She was the granddaughter of Nan-ye-hi/Nancy Ward. Sarah married Jacob West, a white man, about 1807. They were the parents of eight children, Bluford, John, Ezekiel, Eliza, George, Nelson, Ellis, and Rosanna. [1] The 1835 Cherokee Census lists the family on Etowah Creek (now Georgia). [2] The family emigrated to Indian Territory where Sarah died about 1837. [3]
