Enoch Benson Harris, 100, Salina, died Sunday, June 18, 2006.
Mr. Harris was born April 16, 1906. He owned the Salina Transit Co. for 50 years and was part owner of several Salina bowling alleys and Storey-Harris Tire Co.
He received a Bachelor of Science in education from Pittsburg State Teachers College.
He was a member of ISIS Shrine, Kiwanis and Salina School Board, an honorary "muleskinner" at St. John's Military Academy and a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church.
His hobbies were bowling and fishing, and he had received honors from American Bowling Congress. He enjoyed competing in bowling until the last six months of his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude; a daughter, Marilyn Quinley-Boedecker; and a granddaughter, Nancy Pat Quinley.
Survivors include a son, Leroy and wife Marilyn of New Cambria; a daughter, Harriet Salts and husband Gary of Hemet, Calif.; a son-in-law, Coy Boedecker of Larned; 13 grandchildren, Jan Schaad, Bill Quinley, Betsy Woodcock, John Quinley, Kelly Roth, Mike Quinley, Ed Harris, David Harris, Enoch Harris, Jennifer Loomis, Erin Gemar, Stephanie Salts and Geremy Salts; 28 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2006, in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina.
