Biography

Benjamin married 10 June 1779 to Elizabeth Copp, who was born 12 Nov 1758, died 17 Sep 1813, daughter of Joseph and Rachel (Denison) Copp.

Their children were:

  1. Benjamin b. May 8, 1783
  2. Betsey b. June 17, 1780
  3. Charles Turner b. Sept 18, 1785 twin with
  4. Nancy b. Sept 18, 1785

His wife remarried to William Harris, and shows up in the Hale collection for newspaper notices, "Mrs Elizabeth Harris, West Stockbridge, Mass, formerly widow of Benjamin Hempstead, late of New London"[1]
