Biography

Third daughter of Rev. Samuel Link Harris, one of nine children.

Florence was born on 25 July 1850 in Clare, Suffolk, England, while her father was the minister there at the Congregational Church. The family emigrated to South Australia on the ship "Asia" in 1851. At the age of 31, on 04 January 1882, Florence married Ernest Devereux Davenport in the Congregational Church, Macclesfield, South Australia. Their children included: Amy Florence (1883-1957), Emily Dorothea (1887-1970) and Cecil Devereux (1889-).

Florence passed away at her home at 1 Wattlebury Road, Lower Mitcham, South Australia on 21 September 1945, at the age of 95 years.

Place of Burial: Mitcham Cemetery, SA.
