The origins of Keziah Harris are unconfirmed at this time. Family history tree's have her born on 10 Sep 1804 in Butler, Lawrence county, Ohio, USA. A town or county issued birth Vital Record confirming her parents cannot be found at this time. Note that her daughter Aletha A. [Pierce] Ransford named a son William Benjamin Ransford which is a naming convention that supports her maternal grandfather being one Benjamin Pierce.

Based upon the vital records of some of their children Keziah Harris married Jesse Pierce. Their known children were:

• Aletha A. Pierce, b. Sullivan county, Indiana and who married John Ransford (a farmer) and had a child named William Benjamin Ransford who d. 20 Jan 1925 at Litchfield, Montgomery, Illinois at age 70 yrs and who was b. 12 Feb 1854, Sullivan county, Ind. ^[1]

• Addison Gross Pierce, b. 1834, Sullivan county, Indiana to paents Jesse Pierce and "Kizar Harris" and who m. Lucy M. Harris. [Iowa Marriage Records, 1880-1945]

• James K. Pierce, b. and middle initial unconfirmed; m. Barbara Ransford, 9 Dec 1861, Sullivan county, Indiana ^[2]

• Sarah Jane Pierce: b. 1 May 1841, Indiana to parents Jesse Pierce and "Kissia" Harris. ^{[3] [4]}

• Keziah Harris Pierce, b. and middle name unconfirmed: In an Iowa marriage record Richard Ransford, and Kesiah Pierce, (b. Indiana) were witnesses to the 22 Feb 1883, Sherman Twp., Indiana, marriage of daughter Mellisa J. Ransford, age 19 years who currently resides in Montgomery county, Iowa and who m. John Stodgell, age 24, son of J. Stodgell. [Iowa Marriage Records, 1880-1945] ; In a U.S> Social Security Applications & Claims Index, 1936-2007 "Kesiah Pierce and spouse Richard R Ransford are recorded as parents of Ida May Stumbo."
