Biography

Hepsibah, daughter of Samuel Hastings & Hepsibah Hastings, was born on 1 April 1737 in Newton, Middlesex, Massachusetts Bay Colony.^[1]

Hepsibeth married Alexander Sampson on 4 July 1755 in Newton, Middlesex, Massachusetts Bay Colony.^[2]

ALEXANDER SAMPSON married 23 May 1754 HEPHZIBAH HASTINGS, who was born 1 April 1737, the daughter of Samuel Hastings of Newton. He was a butcher and carried supplies to Boston market. About 1768 he removed to Providence RI where he was engaged in the same business also keeping a store and having a tannery. He died in Providence about 1780.^[3]

2. Samuel bap Aug 28 1757 m Elizabeth Snow May 12 1796. He seems to have been the Samuel Sampson who grad Brown University 1777 was a lawyer in Providence and died there leaving no issue
3. Joseph Stacey bap Feb 17 1760 unmarried an ingenious man invented several machines died in London.
4. Charles bap May 9 1762 m Nancy Hopkins was a sheriff in Providence died there had two daughters
5. Hephzibah Dana bap April 14 1765 m Wm Manchester of Providence.
6. Stephen b March 7 1767 m 1 Mehitable Morse 2 Mary Morse
7. John b in Providence unmarried died in Charleston S Č
8. Rebecca b in Providence died in infancy
