William Haston was born in Appalachia, in Tennessee.

William Lester Haston was born on September 26, 1892 in Spencer, Van Buren, Tennessee, United States, son of Thomas Cole Haston (1863–1933) and Elizabeth Evale Drake (1866–1912).

William married Mary Emoline Miller (born on September 21, 1898 in Van Buren; daughter of James Thomas Miller and Margaret D (Simmons) Miller). ^[1]

In the 1900 census Lester (age 8) was the son of Thomas C Haston in Civil District 2, Van Buren, Tennessee, United States.^[2] Thomas C Haston 33, wife Evaline Haston 34, daughter Ledar Haston 15, son Homes Haston 10, son Lester Haston 8, daughter Maggie Haston 5, daughter Ella Haston 3.

In the 1910 census Lester (age 16) was the single son of Thomas Haston in Civil District 4, Van Buren, Tennessee, United States.^[3] Thomas Haston 46, wife Evaline Haston 43, daughter Maud Haston 20, son Homer J Haston 18, son Lester Haston 16, daughter Maggie L Haston 13, son Edgar Haston 10, daughter Ida B Haston 8, daughter Annie Haston 4, boarder Henry Swindle 31.

William was in a military record in 1917-1918 in Van Buren, Tennessee, United States.^[4]

In the 1920 census Lester (age 26) was the single son of Tom C Haston in Civil District 3, Van Buren, Tennessee, United States.^[5] Tom C Haston 56, daughter Maude Haston 30, son Lester Haston 26, son Edgar Haston 22, daughter Febby Haston 14.

William died on November 5, 1923 in Van Buren, aged 31. He was buried in Haston Cemetery, Van Buren County, Tennessee.^[6][7][8]
