Biography

Josiah Hatch was born 30 May 1680 at Scituate, Massachusetts, the son of Samuel Hatch and Mary Doty.^[1] He married Desire Hawes on 24 February 1702 at Yarmouth, Massachusetts.^[2] They had seven children:

1. Desire b. 1703; m. John Cooke
2. Edmund b. 1705; m. Reliance Crowell
3. Suraiah b. 1707
4. Jabez b. 1709; m. Mary Fisher
5. Ebenezer b. 1710 (twin)
6. Josiah b. 1710 (twin)
7. Mary b. 1714

Josiah died 12 January 1715 at Rochester, Massachusetts.^[3]

On 30 March 1715, his widow Desire was granted the letter of administration for his estate. His inventory was taken on 22 March 1715 at Rochester and recorded at Plymouth.^[4]

On 1 May 1724, with his estate not settled and his widow now deceased, John Cowing of Cape Cod was granted the letter of administration for his estate.^[5]

In 1725, the estate account shows debts paid by the estate.^[6]
