She married Marshfield Gains[2][3] in Dec (year unknown but likely before 1814).[1] The couple had a son, Oren, born 20 Mar 1815 at Whitingham, Windham County, Vermont.[4]
She passed away 17 Jun 1842.[1][3] She is buried in the Taylor-Stacy Cemetery at Halifax, VT.[3]
Research Notes
The name and DOB of Lucy, her siblings and parents were entered in an old Hatch family Bible.[5] There was also a partial marriage entry that listed the name of her groom as Marshfield Gaines. The Gaines name was also used on the entry of the DOD.
The name was then located on Find a Grave, spelled "Gains."[2][3], confirming the entry in the bible.
It appears that he was illiterate, as he signed his will with a mark. He may not have known how to spell his name and therefore left it to whomever recorded it.
