Obituary

James Donald Hawkings, 61, a longtime resident of rural Eveleth died unexpectedly, Monday, July 1, 2013 in his home.

He was born Sept. 7, 1951 in Duluth, the son of Donald and Pearl (Overland) Hawkings and was a 1969 graduate of Eveleth High School.

Jim earned degrees in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, and Land Surveying. Jim was employed by Davey McKee Company and later was a co-founder and co-owner on Noramco Engineering Corporation. Through his work, Jim travelled through the United States and overseas, and was a senior member of the Instrument Society of America. He loved gardening, feeding wild birds and animals around his home; and spending time with cat and companion, Boots.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Hawkings; fiancé, Maryann Spicer; brother:, David Hawkings; nephew, Michael Flannigan; and brother-in-law, Robert Flannigan.

Jim is survived by his mother, Pearl Hawkings of Iron; siblings, Karen Flannigan of Eveleth, Doug Hawkings of Hoyt Lakes, Dan Hawkings of Eveleth, and Dennis Hawkings of Iron; nieces and nephews, Brian Flannigan, Shelly Flannigan, Jeremy Hawkings, Kris Hawkings, Deanna (Mike) Ventrella, and Joshua Hawkings; beloved cat, Boots; other extended family, and friends.^[6]
