He married Phoebe Jane ( Radmore) Hawkings on December 11, 1876 at Middlesborough, Yorkshire, UK . FHL Film Number : 0844557 IT 5, 573992. Phoebe was 15 years old.
They had 5 children. James William, born,1877-1878. Ernest Sidney, born 1879-1941. Phoebe Jane, born, 1881-1882. Herbert E. born 1884-1965.Arthur Owen, born, 1886-1950. According to the Census in 188, the family lived at 25 Branch Street, Normanby in Middlesborough. William's occupation was listed as Engine Driver, Ironworks.
