Samuel Hawley I was born on 14 May 1647 possibly in Stratford, Connecticut to parents Joseph Hawley and Katherine Birdsey (Birdseye).
He married first Mary Thompson on 20 May 1673 in Stratford, Connecticut. Children: Samuel II, Capt. Joseph, Thomas, Matthew, Ebenezer, Jehiel, Elizabeth.
After Mary died in 1688 Samuel married second Patience Nichols on 2 Mar 1691 in Stratford, Connecticut. Children: Ephraim, Catherine (Catrin), Stephen, Benjamin, Mary, Nathaniel.
He died on 24 Aug 1734 in Stratford, Connecticut.
His will is dated 15 April 1734 and proved on 24 September 1734.[1]
His inventory was taken on 24 September 1734 at Stratford and recorded at Fairfield.[2]
