Biography

Merrill Dwight Hawley was born on 29 December 1916 in Woodburn, Marion, Oregon, United States, son of Dwight Houghton Hawley (1862–1945) and Adella Mae Burnidge (1868–1962).^[1]

By the time he was thirteen, he had been admitted to the "Oregon State Institution for the Feeble-Minded". He remained there for the rest of his life.^[2][3][4]

Merrill died on 26 October 1957 in the institute in Salem, Marion, aged 40. He was buried in Belle Passi Cemetery, Woodburn.^{[5] [6][7]}
