Biography

Robert was born in 1880 in Balloo, Islandmagee, County Antrim, Ireland, the son of Samuel Hawthorn and Ellen Quirey.^[1] He was baptised in 2nd Islandmagee Presbyterian Church on 22 Jun 1880.^[2]

He died in 1905, aged 23 years, in Ballyhone, Carnmoney, County Antrim from phthisis and exhaustion. His death was registered by his brother Patrick Hawthorn of Ballyhone who was present at his death.^[3] He was interred in Ballypriormore Graveyard, Islandmagee. ^[4]

   Erected by Samuel Hawthorn in memory of his father Samuel Hawthorn who died 10 Jan 1851 aged 85 years. Also his son William Q. Hawthorn who died 12 Jun 1887 aged 2 years. His wife Ellen Hawthorn who died 12 Jun 1890 aged 36 years. His son James Quirey aged 2 1/2 years. His wife Margaret Sarah died in 1895 aged 42 years. His son Robert Quirey died 14 Oct 1905 aged 24 years.
