Charles Henry Hayes was born in the first quarter of 1859 in Birmingham, Warwickshire.^[1]

In the 1861 England Census Joseph Hayes, 31 born about 1830 in Marshfield, Gloucestershire, England, plasterer, was head of his household in Marsella St, Lady Wood, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England. Other Household Members: his wife Fanny Hayes 29 born Marshfield, Gloucestershire, England, and their children, all born in Birmingham: Jane Hayes 6, Fanny Hayes 4, Charles Henery Hayes 2, and Joseph James Hayes 1/12. ^[2]

In the 1871 England Census Joseph Hayes 41 born about 1830 in Marshfield, Gloucestershire, England, plasterer, was head of his household in 4 Scotts buildings, Morville St, Lady Wood, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.
