Tamson (35. VI), daughter of Ezekiel and Elizabeth Wentworth, is not heard of prior to being the wife (married by Rev. John Pike, 29 December 1704) of James Chesley, son of Philip Chesley and grandson of Philip Chesley. James was killed by the Indians, 15 September 1707. She married, 2d, John Hayes, a Deacon in the First Church of Dover. He was son of John Hayes, the emigrant, who came from Scotland about 1680, settled at Dover (N.H.) Corner and married Mary Horne. His family is given in the N. E. Hist. and Geneal. Register, October 1852. Deacon John Hayes lived in Dover, at what is known as Tole-End" a farming locality, a few miles up the Cochecho River from the falls on its west side. Tamson died before her second husband. He married, 2d, Mary (Roberts) widow of Samuel Wingate. He died 3 July 1759 and his tombstone is standing in Pine Hill burial ground.

7. 173. Elizabeth Hayes, born 5 April, 1721; married her cousin Ichabod Hayes, son of John. He was born 13 December 1718, died 15 October 1794. They had:

3. Ezekiel Hayes, born 19 February 1746; was of Dover, N.H.

5. Moses Hayes, born 15 June 1750, was of Farmington, N.H.
6. Aaron Hayes, born 19 September 1752, was of Dover, N.H.
7. James C. Hayes, was of Milton, N.H.
8. Tamson Hayes, born 21 March 1755; died young
9. Abra Hayes, born 2 August 1757; died single
10. Betty Hayes, born 10 March 1762; married Maj. Joseph Mooney, of Alton, N.H.
11. John Hayes, born 13 September 1764; was of Saco, Me.
8. Abra Hayes, born 17 February 1723/4; married John Montgomery, of Strafford, N.H., and was mother of Jonathan Montgomery, of Strafford.
9. Robert Hayes, born 21 March, 1725/6; was of "Green Hill," Barrington, N.H. and had Joshua Hayes, of Barrington.
10. Wentworth Hayes, born 27 January 1727/8l was of Rochester and had Betty Hayes who married _____ Roberts of Milton, N.H, and Elihu Hayes of Lebanon, Me.
11. Samuel Hayes, born 12 March, 1729-30; was of Barrington, N. H., and had Samuel Hayes who was father of Deacon John Hayes, of Barrington and of Samuel Hayes of Durham, N.H.
12. Jonathan Hayes, born 17 April 1732, was Lieutenant; married Mary Wingate, daughter of his father's second wife. He lived at Tole-End, in Dover on the homestead. He had:

4. Tamson Hayes, who married Daniel Cushing, and had (with others), Deacon Peter Cushing, of Dover, N.H., who is great-grandson of Rev. Jonathan Cushing, minister of Dover First Church 1717 to 1769.
5. Nancy Hayes, married William Cushing (great-grandson of Rev. Jonathan Cushing), and had children.
6. Sarah Hayes, married Samuel Jackson of Rochester, N.H.
7. Robert Hayes, of Bolton, Vt.
8. Betsey Hayes, married Stephen Jackson of Rochester, N.H.[1]
