The first child born to Floyd and Lola Rampey Haynes was D'Lorz Inez Haynes. She joined the Army in 1933 and served in many assignments from the Philippines to Europe and the Pacific. In World War II, her area of command was as Nursing Chief of the First Army Area, and from 1955-1959 she was the tenth Chief of the Army Nurse Corps. Col. Haynes was among the first three women who were promoted to the permanent grade of Colonel in the regular Army and was honored to include the Legion of Merit, among her many awards and honors.
After retiring, Inez started a new career as General Director and Secretary of the National League for Nursing in September of 1959. After retiring from this assignment, she moved to El Reno, Oklahoma to care for her mother and died there on May 29, 1997. She is buried in ElReno Cemetery's 2nd Addition, Block 27, Lot 66, Space D, El Reno, OK.
