Golden Wedding Celebrations.-Mr aud Mrs Joe Haynes celebrated, on Tuesday, July 26, with many of their friends, at their home at Wallaroo Mines, their 50th wedding anniversary. Mr and Mrs Haynes have been residents of the district for practically the whole of their married life. This was to the couple, a very happy occasion and the function brought many happy memories of the passing events and improvements noticed by them since their by-gone days at Kadina. The celebration was marked by a spread to their many friends, and the party concluded with numerous happy wishes for their future happiness and health. After the cutting of the wed ding cake (which was kindly made by Mrs Alf Gill), the singing of "For they are jolly good fellows" brought this happy function to a conclusion.[2]
THANKS. Mr and Mrs JOE HAYNES wish to thank Mrs Alf Gill for her effort in making such a nice wedding cake, also Mrs Reg May for decorations, and Mrs W. Barrett for her kind help on the occasion of our golden wedding celebrations.[3]
HAYNES.— On April 21, at Wallaroo Hospital, Joseph William, dearly beloved husband of the late Mary Jane Haynes, of Wallaroo Mines, and loving father of Ivy, Len, Arthur and Bill; also Laurel (deceased). In his 82nd year.[4]
Obituary:
Very few families are better known than the Haynes family throughout the district, and now it is my turn to say a word or two in respect to my old friend, Joe; who passed on after a long innings. I have known him over a long period as a miner and met him in so many ways. His link with the place has been worth while and for many years Joe was able to do things that worked out for the good of others. The last time I saw him was at Fred's place where he had gone to live, to get some personal comfort after the death of his wife. ln his latter years he was a good worker for those things that came along to assist charity in many ways. Being a member of the O.A.P.A. he was generally found on some errand of good will for the members of the Pensioners' Association. For many years Joe was a worship-per at the church and often found his way to the Army, which gave me a good chance to meet him more often than I would have done otherwise, and to know that something which is in man, the spirit of understanding, l can only express my sympathy along with others' to the family.[5]
