Edwin was born on 6 Jun 1845 in Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States.[1][2] His parents were Edwin C Heck and Mary Ann Smith Heck.[3]

Edwin was a Civil War veteran. He served in 3 regiments from 1862 to 1864.[4]

Company A, 124th Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry - He mustered in on 8 Aug 1862 as a Private in for 9 months. He mustered out with the company on 17 May 1863. [5][6] During his service, the Regiment participated in the Battle of Antietam and the Barrle of Chancellorsville.[7]
Company B, 43rd Regiment, Pennsylvania Militia of 1863 (emergency) - He mustered in on 6 Jul 1863 as a Sergeant and was discharged on 13 Aug 1863.[8]
Company D, 197th Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry (100 days, 1864) - He mustered in on 23 Jul 1864 as a Sergeant for 100 days. [9]He mustered out with the company on 11 Nov 1864.[10]The Regiment was organized at Philadelphia and moved to Baltimore, Maryland and then Rock Island, Illinois where they guarded prisoners until muster out.[11] [12]

Edwin was married 3 times, to Emma Harman, Flora Bell Huffman Barr and Florence E. Davis.

He married Emma Harman (32, born about 1840 in Deleware, Ohio) on 22 Feb 1872 in Otoe, Nebraska, United States.[13]
Edwin married to Flora Belle Huffman Barr (43, born about 1841 in Clark County, Indiana) on 4 Sep 1884 in Otoe, Nebraska, United States.[14]
He married Florence E. Davis (1872-1943) [2] on 14 Oct 1925 in Los Angeles, California, United States.[3] Edwin was widowed and this was his 3rd marriage. Florence was divorced and this was her 2nd marriage.[3]

Edwin was a member of the John F. Godfrey Post, G.A.R.[1]

He passed away on 15 Feb 1926[9][15] in Pasadena, Los Angeles, California, United States and is buried in Mountain View Cemetery and Mausoleum in Altadena, California. [1][2]

Edwin is survived by his widow Florence E. Heck.[1][9]
