Notes
Note N35She was born in Miami Twp. License to marry was granted 5 Apr 1842 and the marriage was at the Methodist Church on 14 Apr 1842. After the death of her husband, Peter Hooper, Hester went and lived a time in IL, but eventually went to Hiawatha,KS to live with her older children. She went to California for about a year for her health, but returned to Hiawatha where she passed away. A short notice in the BROWN COUNTY WORLD was printed on 20 June 1890 page 3: "The funeral services were held Friday at the M.E.Church over the remains of Mrs.H.A.Hooper, mother of Mrs.Cover and J.V. and W.G. Rollins. Mrs. Hooper was 67 years old and died of heart disease. She was a most estimable woman." Her obituary appeared in the HIAWATHA JOURNAL on 19 June 1890: Mrs. H.A.Hooper was born Sept. 26, 1822 in Clermont Co.,O, and departed this life in Hiawatha, Wed. evening at 8 P.M. June 11, being 67 years of age. About the year 1840 she, with her parents, moved to New Salem, Pike Co.,IL. In the year 1842 she was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to John G.Rollins, leading a peaceable and happy life until June 10, 1852 when the messenger of Death called her loving companion home, leaving a wife and four children to mourn their loss. The four children survive her and three who are with us today. In the spring of 1861 she was again united in marriage to Peter Hooper, who departed this life in the summer of 1872.
