Biography

"Jonathan Heiny, 96 years old, the oldest man in White county, passed away Saturday morning at 10 o'clock at the home of his son, James Heiny in Burnettsville where he made his home. The deceased was born August 20, 1829, in Wayne county. The family then moved to Carroll county and later to White county where he resided the rest of his life. He served ten months during the Civil War, and was one of the highly esteemed and respected men of the county. Mr. Heiny is survived by ten children, two brothers and three sisters. The funeral was held Monday, afternoon at 2 o'clock at the M. E. church at Idaville and burial was made in the Idaville cemetery." Saturday, November 28, 1925 - Delphi Citizen

"Mr. Johnathan Heiny died at the home of his son, James Heiny, last Saturday aged 90 years four months. He leaves to mourn his loss ten children; daughters, Mrs. H. W. Herman, Mrs. L. N. Benjamin of this place, Mrs. Grace Leslie of Gary, Mrs. Chas. Jones of Rock Island, Ill.; sons, Marco of near Lake Cicott, James of Burnettsville, Chas, north of Idaville, Milton and Bert of Gary, sisters and brother. The funeral was conducted from the Methodist Church by Rev. Fross at Idavllle Monday afternoon, interment in Idaville Cemetery." Thursday, November 26, 1925 - Logansport Press
