Samuel Hempstock was born in Nottinghamshire, England.

Samuel was born in the 2nd quarter of 1846 in East Retford, Nottinghamshire [1] His parents were Samuel Hempstock and Ann Clifton. [2] He was chritened on 5 July 1846 at St Leonard Church, Ragnall, Nottinghamshire.[3]

In the 1851 Census, Samuel (4) is living with his parents, Samuel and Ann in Ragnall. [4][5]

Samuel Hempstock (father's name Samuel) and Mary Wild married on 18 January 1869 at Cathedral Church of St Peter & St Paul, Sheffield, Yorkshire,[6][7]
