Biography

  • Margaret Jane "Maggie" Henderson was born in 1871 at the family farm in Muckleramer, Co. Antrim, Ireland. She was the daughter of James McCullough Henderson and Susanna Whiteside[1].
  • Maggie married William Kernohan on 7 Mar 1895 at Randalstown, Co. Antrim, Ireland[2].
  • William and Maggie had ten known children: David Kernohan, James Kernohan, Samuel Kernohan, William Hugh Kernohan, John Kernohan, Andrew Kernohan, Susannah Kernohan, Marianne Kernohan, James Thomas Kernohan, Francis Henderson Kernohan.
  • In the 1901 Ireland census, Maggie was age 29 living at Duke Street, Ballymena with her husband William Kernohan (29), sons David Kernohan (5), Samuel Kernohan (2), William H Kernohan (0). Also a servant Annie Marks. Occupation Farmer[3].
  • William and Maggie moved to the farm "Springmount" at Muckleramer, Co. Antrim which was previously farmed by Maggie's family.
  • In the 1911 Ireland census Maggie was age 39 living at Muckleramer, Co. Antrim with her husband William Kernohan (39), sons David Kernohan (15), Samuel Kernohan (12), Willie H Kernohan (10), John Kernohan (8), Andrew Kernohan (6), daughters Anna Kernohan (4), Marianne Kernohan (0). Also a servant Mary Jane Mulholland. Occupation Farmer[4].
  • Maggie died in 1952 age 80 at Muckleramer[5].
