Research Notes

Find A Grave: Memorial #128295554) is not a good source since there is no death date, no burial info, but a bio with spouses and children. It has been used to create profile, so reference is being added back in with 'sameas=no' designation. Carruth-363 01:17, 30 December 2023 (UTC)

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Joseph by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Joseph:

The sources in this profile seems to be a mixture of several people. Can we remove information from this profile that seems to be for other Joseph Hendersons, as well as the Death Date that has been removed from the Find a Grave mentioned in the profile?

There were multiple Joseph Henderson in Indiana, neither of which was this person.

1. One was married to Elizabeth Frazier and died Mar 21 1849. There is a census in Indiana in this profile which is probably for this other person.

2. One was married to Elizabeth Vance and died 1869 in Vermillion County, Indiana. -

Death in Missouri came from Find a Grave that no longer has the death date, gravestone or anything else, so it is not reliable, especially since the death date has been removed. The Death date should be removed from this profile, since there is no source

The Find a Grave has links to many of the family members and has a list of the children for each wife, although it is unsourced. The proposed merge profile has the missing children from this profile.

I believe it is time to take another look at Eleanor Jane Pickens [Pickens-1871]. This daughter is also considered to be born 9 Nov 1780, and the wife of Robert Dowdle, Jr. I believe this is more likely correct, and the first wife of Joseph Henderson is unknown. The Jane Pickens Henderson who died in 1817 was the wife of Francis Henderson. She was the daughter of John Pickens and Letitia Hannah. I think at one time she was thought to be the wife of Joseph Henderson, which started the mix up. Lee Bain
