Research Notes

From a Parish copy of the Marriage of Thomas and Mary, supplied by the Kent Family History Society in about 2010, the full wording of the marriage ceremony. "Marriages solemnized in the Parish of Westwell in the County of Kent in the year 1826.Thomas Henniker of the Parish of Hothfield, Bachelor, and Jemima Willis of this Parish Spinster, were married in this Church by Bannes this Eleventh day of September in the year One thousand eight hundred and twenty six. By me John Alex Ross, Curate. This Marriage was solenized between us ref Henniker his x mark and Jemima Willis her x mark. In the Presence of John Back x his mark and Gad. Austen. No. 78. From a parish copy supplied by Kent Family History Society by mail. #P390/1/18. Copy owned by Heneker-11 , 29 April 2024.

I am unsure why on the shipping manifest, there are 3 different entries for the Heneker family, with the 3 main different ways the surname was spelt on a variety of documents. Through their time in England, and then in South Australia, and onward over the decades, the name Heneker (which is my maiden surname), can be seen to be spelt differently, often even within the same family.Heneker-11
