James was born March 10, 1793 in Kingston, Roane County, Tennessee. He was the son of George Henry and Anny Fine.
He passed away August 10, 1863 in Putnam County, Tennessee. Vinet was laid to rest in Board Valley Cemetery, Sparta, White County, Tennessee, United States. [1]

Veteran of War of 1812 - private in the 3rd Regiment of the TN militia under Cpt Daniel Newman . The Regiment Commander was James Ralston. Vinet was drafted 15 Oct 1814 in White County, Tennessee and discharged 01 Jul 1815 in Sparta, White County, Tennessee. [2]
BH also says that Vinet was named for Vinet Fine of Cocke County, Tennessee. who was killed by Indians at Fine's Creek, North Carolina in 1783
