Henry Heptinstall was born in Ackworth, Yorkshire, England.

He married Elizabeth Marshall on 8 Nov 1847 in West Riding, Yorkshire, England. ^[2]

Henry's death (age 42) was registered in the Apr-May-Jun quarter of 1870 in the Dewsbury district, Yorkshire, England.^[5]

On 20 Apr 1870, at Cooper the Old Shoulder of Mutton Inn, Osset cum Gawthorp, an inquest into Henry's death was held by Coroner Thomas Taylor. On page 971 of the report, it states: Henry Heptinstall dec'ed, Elizabeth Heptinstall of Owl Lane, Gawthorp widow sw. says dec'ed was 42 years old and a farm laborer. We have been married upward of 22 years. During that period dec'ed has had no illness except a little cold occasionally. He was hedging yesterday morning and was rolling a field with a horse roller in the afternoon. After giving over work he went to help Mr Joe Rowley to do something with the greenhouse. Dec'ed at home about 9 o'clock last night. He was in good spirits and apparently in good health. He did not complain. He and I and my son had supper together and we went to bed about 10 o'clock. He appeared to go to sleep. I awoke about midnight by his rolling about. I asked him whether he ailed anything and he said he did not but that he sweat a good deal and had had a pain in his stomach. I fell asleep again and was awoke by hearing a ruttling in his throat. I spoke to him but he did not speak and all sound ceased immely (immediately). I ran downstairs and rapt against the wall and I called up my son. Dec'ed was not in any Club. We had tea and new cold cake to supper.

Fanny Wood of Owl Cottage, Gawthorp, Cook sw. says, I have been in Mr Edwin Rowley's service for the last 15 months and I have known dec'ed for the last 6 months. I saw him last night in the garden working. He was quite cheerful. I saw him last about 9 o'clock last night. He was very steady. Fanny Ward.
