Minnie was born in Ohio in 1872 to William J. and Mary S. Heskett, both of Ohio.[1] She married (1) Gilbert M. Lafayette (Lafayette) Cooper, a farmer, 14 Sep 1892 in Muskingum, Ohio.[2] Lafayette was a farmer. He died of pneumonia in 1900. In the 1900 US Census, she was listed as head of the household. She was a widow with four children. She was 28. The oldest was 7 and the youngest was a newborn. No occupation was listed next to her name, but her brother-in-law, Philander Cooper, and his wife were living with them. Philander gives his occupation as Farmer.[3]
