The Kentucky Marriage Index lists a marriage occurring on 01 NOV 1866 in Wayne County, KY between Nancy Rains and Jackson Hider (Hyder). Nancy's age is listed as 25; Jackson's is 27, and his birth place is noted as Cumberland County, KY. Nancy's father Rhodes G. Rains, whose home also serves as the place of marriage.
Nancy Hider is listed in the US General Index to Pension Files as the widow of Jackson Hider, Civil War Soldier. The filing date of this pension form is 09 DEC 1872.
In 1890, the name Nancy Hider appears on a special schedule of the U.S. Census; this schedule is one that enumerated "surviving soldiers, sailors, and marines, and widows, etc.", where she is listed as the widow of "Hider Jackson".
Children attributed to Jackson Hyder appear to have been born after his date of death. I have saved this information anyway, and intend to find out more with primary documents.
