The 1850 census and her memorial use the name Ann Higgins; however, the marriage record that exists to George Rambo lists Mary Higgins. There are birth records for a Mary Higgins (b. 1798) and an Ann Higgins (b. 1796) to George Higgins and his wife Mary. Some accounts deal with this inconsistency by naming George Rambo's wife "Mary Ann." It is possible Ann Higgins died young and Mary (Ann) was named after her and called the same name. It seems even more likely that Mary Higgins married George Rambo and died, leaving him to remarry (either her sister Ann or another Ann). Other genealogical accounts of this family cite a second wife, Ann Pleasants Fox, though no verifiable sources for this name or their marriage have yet been found and the supposed marriage dates overlap. (Note that a confirmed Ann Pleasants Fox married a George Newbold. Ann Pleasants Fox, born October 28, 1795 ; died January 16, 1861 ; married July 28, 1829, George Newbold, born May 29, 1780 ; died September 8, 1858.[2] ) More work needs done to iron out these details.
