Biography

Charles Stephen Higgins was born 27 Jan 1893 in Bar Harbor ME. His father was Herbert P Higgins, also born in Bar Harbor. His mother was Minnie Blanche Fuller, born in Waterville Maine. Both father and mother were 22 at the time of Charles' birth. [1]


In 1930, Charles Higgins lived in Bar Harbor, Hancock County Maine and was 37 years old. His wife was Virginia Higgins, who was also born in Maine. At that time, there were two children, Janet Higgins, 12 and Virginia M Higgins, 10. He was a dentist at this time.[2]

Dr. Higgins was a dentist in Bar Harbor. 46 years: 10 months: 02 days old at death. He died of a melanoma.

He was buried in Bar Harbor at Ledgelawn Cemeterty in Bar Harbor, Maine.

In a newspaper clipping: "Dr. Chas. Higgins Passes Away Wed. Afternoon", dated 29 Nov 1939. It stated: Local Dentist Dies After Several Months' Illness. After several months of illness, Dr. Charles S. Higgins died Wednesday afternoon at his home on Roberts Avenue, Dr. Higgins was born in Bar Harbor in 1893, the son of Dr. and Mrs. Herbert P Higgins. He attended the local schools and the University of Pennsylvania Dental School, returning here to practice dentistry with his father. Dr. Higgins leaves to mourn his loss his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Laurence Grant and Virginia Higgins and mother and father Dr. and Mrs. Herbert P. Higgins.
