Biography

John Hildreth, the son of Lt. John and Elizabeth Hildreth, was born on 23 March 1801 at Westford, Middlesex, Massachusetts.^[1] His mother's maiden name was Leighton, and both parents were born in Westford.^[2] His FindAGrave memorial gives his birth date as 26 Nov 1801, s\with no source. This appears to be a calculation based on his age at death.^[3] He was baptized at the same time as three siblings on 22 May 1803 at Westford.^[4]

John died on 26 Nov 1872 at Arlington, Middlesex, Massachusetts.^[2] John is buried at the Forefathers Burial Ground, Plot: FF/NEW-54-1, Chelmsford, Middlesex, Massachusetts. His gravestone shows his age at death as 71 years and 8 months. The wife of Edward P. Hildreth, Lavinia Duchemin, is memorialized on the same stone.^[3]
