Biography

John was born in 1727, the son of Benjamin and Mary (Neal) Hill, in Colonial Maine, where he was raised.

John would marry twice in his life. In 1756 he married Elizabeth Ferguson, the daughter of James and Patience (Downing) Ferguson, in Kittery, York County, Maine. They would settle in Kittery and have the following children:

Lois (Hill) Bartlett (1757–1838)

Elizabeth Hill (1759–1759)

Dick Hill (1759–1759)

Evidently Elizabeth would die in 1759 after giving birth to twins that both died as well.

In 1764, John would marry his second wife, Martha Whipple Rogers, the daughter of Reverend John Whittingham Rogers III and Susannah (Whipple) Rogers, in Eliot, York, Maine. John and Martha would have the following children:

Elizabeth (Hill) Crosby (1761– )

John would live to be 65 years old. No death or burial records were found.
