Biography

Isaiah Hiltz was born on April 15, 1847 in Sherbrooke, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia, Canada to Edmund Hiltz and Hannah Bezanson. He was baptized on July 17, 1847 at St. Stephen's Anglican, New Ross. [1] [2]

Isaiah married Hannah (Joanna or Johanna) Keddy on August 2, 1869 in Christ Church Anglican, New Ross. [3] [4] [5] [6]

Together they had the following children: [7]

  • William Chandley, b. 14 Mar 1870, d. 1889. [8] [9]
  • Hannah Jeanette, b. 5 May 1875, m. Wilfred A Newcomb. [13] [14] [15]
  • Rupert Norman, b. 5 Feb 1878, m. Irene Gallagher. [16] [17]
  • Burnham Burgess, b. 7 Jan 1881, m. Maude C Wieland. [21] [22]
  • Edson, b. 1881. [23]

In 1871 Isaiah owned 100 acres in The Forties, 12 acres of it was cleared. Isaiah also was a cooper and produced over 100 fish barrels. [28]

Isaiah died on June 21, 1912, in Kentville, Kings County, Nova Scotia, Canada. He was buried on June 24, 1912 in Holy Trinity Anglican, Middleton, Nova Scotia, Canada. [29] [30]
