Biography

Oscar Elton Hinson was born on August 18, 1872, in Butler County, Alabama, United States; son of Joshua Hinson (1850-1912) and Caroline Jensey Williams (1854-1913).

Oscar (age 25) married Florence Greenwood Worthington (age 24); daughter of Greenwood Worthington and Susan Josephine (Bryan) Worthington; on January 30, 1898, in Washington County, Florida, United States.[1] Their children were:

  2. Alvie Jensy Hinson (1901–1985)
  3. Theron Green Hinson (1902–1980)
  4. Laura Mae Hinson (1904-1924)
  5. Odes Elton Hinson (1907–1991)

  7. Ola E. Hinson (1911–1996)
  8. Minnie Marie Hinson (1912-1937)
  9. Jonas Angus Hinson (1914–2001)
  10. Florida Vera Hinson (1917-1948)
  11. Oscar Caleph Hinson (1919–2004)

Oscar (age 45) signed up for the World War I Draft on September 12, 1918. He is described as being medium height, medium build with black eyes and grey hair. Occupation listed as Farmer.[2]

Oscar died on June 5, 1955, in Hinsons Crossroads, Washington, Florida, United States, aged 82. He was buried at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, Hinsons Crossroads, Washington County, Florida.[3]
