Biography
Descendant of Adam Ivey.
Matha was born in 1929,[1] the youngest of 11 children to Joseph Hiram Hinton Sr[2][3] and Berta B Williams. His siblings were: Agnes, Albert,[4] Mamie, George,[5] Roy Sr,[6] Ollie, Willie Mike Sr, Gertrude, Joseph Hiram Jr, and John Henry. His step-siblings were: Guy Ellington Adams Jr, Mattie Will Adams, Margaret Elizabeth Adams, and Jewell B Adams.

He married Loretta Marcelle Hedgepeth, daughter of Walter J Hedgepeth and Elsie Mae Carr, on 2 Apr 1955 in Perquimans, North Carolina.[9][10] He was about 25 years old and was her first husband.
He remarried to Geraldine Joyce Edith Whitwell, daughter of Harb Anderson Whitwell Sr and Glendora Barton, on 19 Oct 1959 in Pasquotank, North Carolina.[11] He was about 30 years old and was her 4th of 5 husbands.
He remarried to Heddie O'Nell Blackwood, daughter of John Elbert Blackwood and Rosa Bell Sullins, on 6 Jan 1962. He was about 32 years old and was her first husband. They had 1 child together.
Matha passed away in 1974 at the age of 44.[1][2]
