Edith was the eldest daughter of Alice Stent and Henry Hitchcock.[1]
She married in 1902 to Christian (Christopher) Rose. Five children were born during the marriage between 1903 and 1911. ( Christian may have left New Zealand as no more records were sourced for him)
Christian deserted Edith and the children and failed to provide maintenance for his family. Edith petitioned the court for maintenance and in 1918 for a dissolution of the marriage.
The following year she remarried to Job Palmer. They settled to married life in Pigeon Valley where two more children were born, Edna Marjorie and Harold Richard.
Edith died in 1953 aged 72 and is buried in St Johns Churchyard, Wakefield.
